Afzal Guru’s mercy plea to wait

08th December 2012 10:26 AM

Union Home Minister SushilKumar Shinde on Friday cleared the speculations over the Parliament attack accused Afzal Guru’s mercy petition saying he will have a look into the files after the winter session of Parliament.

“When Parliament session is over I will ask what is the status of Guru’s file. It is in the ministry but has not come to me yet. I have to see his file in detail. I have to see it indepth,” Shinde said.

On being asked about the secrecy maintained regarding the hanging of 2008 Mumbai attacks terrorist Ajmal Kasab, the Home Minister said such operations should always be kept secret. “If terrorists can maintain secrecy about their attacks why cannot the government keep secrets,” Shinde asked.

Common man is quite baffled over the ethics of mercy petitions-since the entire judicial process from the Dt court to Supreme court is surmised to be made fun of ,by just one stroke of the president's pen.Political vendetta notwithstanding, 'to err is human-to forgive,divine.'O.K.Do criminals, that too terrorists, err?Positively not. Therefore,Father, forgive them not, since they KNOW what they are doing.'Kesab's case was appropriated to bear fruit at the Gujarat elections against the invincible Modi masthan. As things are going now,Guru can be rest assured of biriyani and coke till an opportunity arises for Congress to gain political mileage on him.Or,instead of the unsung security personnel-if some M.Ps (Heavens forbid!)had got killed, would they have hastened the hanging?
