Maoists killed a 26-year-old villager in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on suspicion that he was a police informer, an official said Thursday.

Maniram Baghel, a resident of Kumharras village under Kukanar police station area, was murdered by Naxalites last night, Sukma Superintendent of Police Abhishek Shandilya told PTI over phone.

Around a dozen armed rebels took Baghel out of his house and slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon, he said, adding the body was dumped on Jagdalpur-Sukma Highway, around 400km away from capital Raipur.
