Anna blasts Kejriwal, says he will not vote for AAP

06th December 2012 01:39 PM

Blaming Arvind Kejriwal's fascination for power for split in anti-graft movement, Anna Hazare today said he will not vote for the Aam Aadmi Party charging that it is going the same way as others by taking the path of 'money through power' and vice versa.

Asked whether his former aide has become "greedy" for power, the 75-year-old activist said, "It was right".

"I thought I will (vote for AAP) but now I find it difficult because it is being seen that it is moving towards the path of 'money through power and power through money', I will not be anywhere near them," he said at a session of a two-day programme 'Agenda' organised by 'Aaj Tak' news channel.

He was responding to a question whether he will vote for AAP, the party formed by Kejriwal after his split with Hazare on the question of the anti-corruption movement taking a political plunge.

Hazare has earlier said that he will support the party if it fields honest candidates and that will campaign for Kejriwal if he fights against Union Minister Kapil Sibal.

Asked whether Kejriwal has become greedy for power and it resulted in the split, Hazare said, "This is right. Earlier I used to think that Arvind is into selfless service. But I don't understand how this thought of entering politics came into his mind."

He also agreed to a question it was Kejriwal's political ambition that led to the split.

"A movement was on for the first time after independence for system change. People were coming out. I thought a good movement has been evolved. There was a feeling that this will earn results. But at that time, I don't understand, how such a thinking came into his mind," Hazare said.

He said there was a need for unity in the fight for system change and against corruption among all including Kejriwal, Swami Ramdev and others.

"This revolution is not complete. We need to stand united. We all, Ramdev, Arvind, all should fight together.

Arvind faltered on way. Ramdev also should severe links with communal organisations," he said.

On Narendra Modi, he said that there were a lot of corruption in Gujarat and as Chief Minister, he has not brought Lokayukta Bill in his state. "Why is he not bringing the bill? Everyone is into making money using power," he said.

Who has asked this old man to vote ???? with his one vote heavens will not fall down??? that he must know it. In our Society every body is a gentleman unless and until he is proved corrupt in a court of law. The Law will take its own course only it may travel years together so all corrupt are Gentlemen only. Kejriwal is doing service to the society by removing the masks the Gentlemen are wearing, what is the service being done by this old man to the society. This old man is having a personal interest he wants fame just as Mahtma Gandhi. We cannot compare him in any way to Mahtma Gandhi.. because he thinks his only vote is so auspicious, and even more he wants a Bill to control corruption. Bills and Acts will not control corruption. Our FM (Finance Minister) is sufficient to control corruption, very simple impose 75% tax on rich class, INdia Inc, Politicians, Bureaucrats, Media,TV & cine artists therefore corrupt money comes back into Govt Treasury

First of all its not whether his vote alone matters or not. Its the public attached with his movement and people who hold him as their icon whose vote matters. They do count up to make a significant number. Secondly, imposing 75% tax on the rich. I presume you have no clue how a society functions and how some decisions are made. No sane person would have kept such a proposal !!

I do not know if you have noticed how abusive AAP supporters have become off late. It was Anna who actually added Gandhian methods to the agitation, that attracted lot of people to it. Now with exit of Anna, Kejriwal's movement is slowly taking a militant/naxal route. It is very evident from comments such as the one above to which you replied, and general discussion forums on AAP and their Facebook page.

Who has asked him to vote for AAP

At last Anna Hazare woke up to the realities of Politics and especially of Khejriwal and Ramdev. Congratulations! Hope he will stick to this idea for some time. The problem with Anna is that he shifts his goalposts often so no one knows what he is upto.

Kejriwal finally gets a slap from Anna Hazare in public for his hunger for power. Anna ji, we are with you. Kejriwal has lost his track in fight against corruption. You are fighting corrupt system, Annaji and Kejriwal is busy fighting people who use the corrupt system. Kejriwal's fight will not yield any results other than disgrace for his own party. As far as Kejriwal members are concerned, they have become as abusive as any other political party members. Kejriwal is shielding corrupt like Mayank Gandhi, Anjali Damania and Prashant Bhushan and his party members abuse anyone that asks why Kejriwal does not practice what he preaches. AAP is becoming like Praja Rajyam Party of Cheeranjivi who played against Congress to split opposition votes, and then joined Congress later.

Kejriwal is the right person who is to be supported by one and all,and so i request to anna ji.If he betrays the people then hewill also meet his fate.At this stage he definitly deserves a chance.
