For the second time in as many days, the CBI on Tuesday questioned Devendra Darda, son of Congress MP Vijay Darda, in connection with irregularities in allocation of coal block to JMD Yavatmal Energy Ltd., Nagpur.
The CBI booked Devendra, a director on the board of JMD Yavatmal Energy, on charges of cheating in order to increase the company’s chances of bagging coal block. In its complaint against the company, the CBI stated that JMD had made false claims to inflate its net worth.
Devendra was also an accused in another case registered by the CBI on charges of cheating to help AMR Iron and Steel Limited, Nagpur, to bag coal block.
The sources said Devendra was asked about information given by them at the time of application and related documents. He was also asked about partnership with Jayaswal brothers who are also accused in the case.
They claimed he was also asked about alleged role of his father in helping the company to get the coal block in Chhattisgarh.
