BJP distances itself from Jethmalani's comments on Ram

09th November 2012 03:39 PM

BJP today distanced itself from the controversial comments of its Rajya Sabha MP Ram Jethmalani on Lord Ram and said the party does not agree with his views. Jethmalani had said yesterday, "Ram was a bad husband."

Asked about BJP's views on the issue, party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "We believe in Ram. We do not agree with what Jethmalani has said." The spokesperson said these were the personal views of Jethmalani and did not reflect BJP's stand.

BJP had spearheaded the Ayodhya Ram Temple movement and Hindutva agenda when L K Advani took out a Rath yatra in 1989. It had helped the party gain electorally in the 1989 elections when it got 89 seats from just two in 1984.

The Allahabad High Court has in its verdict trifurcated the disputed area in Ayodhya and given one portion for Ram temple. This was hailed by BJP as a vindication of its stand on the issue.

What name will he take when breaths his last. He may be good at law but very poor at understanding the lord.

We all have the right to have our opinions. When the male arrogance is justified in our religious books what else to say then.A woman is always ready to stand with her man but men, since the dawn, have proven their selfishness and always considered women inferior to them. How can we call a man 'maryada puroshottam' who abandoned his wife and doubted her dignity and then we call such man as God.When God could not save a woman what to expect from humans. The truth is that Indians are ready to overlook facts and can blindly follow anything in the name of religion.

Lord Sri Rama is the Supreme Godhead who took birth as a man to uphold Dharma. These stupid people commenting about Him cannot understand the purpose of His avatara in this world. They have no right to talk ill about Sri Rama. If they do so, they will meet the same fate as the demon Raavana.

No body is Demon or God. Both god and demon reside inside you. You are just blinded by faith.

It depends on the prevailing social mores of a particular period in time. But it is also high time we stopped hurting sentiments and sensibilities of people by making pseudo-scholarly vainglorious points from the epic characters by judging them from the socio-legal standards of now.

What is wrong with these so called intelectuals? Karnad comments that Tagore was a second class play writter and this Ram Jethmalani coments that Sri Ram was a bad husband. These people need to visit a phychiatrist.
