Delhi reports 36 new dengue cases, total rises to 985

 With 36 new cases reported Tuesday alone, the resurgent dengue in the national capital is inching towards the 1,000 cases mark. The total of patients reported this season now stands at 985, official data revealed.

Of 36 new cases, 10 were reported each from the East Delhi Municipal Corporation and the North Delhi Municipal Corporation areas, while the remaining 16 occurred in the South Delhi Municipal Corporation area, the data showed.

Since dengue hit the capital this year, South Delhi Municipal Corporation continues to top the list with 371 cases so far this year from areas under it.

The dengue vector has claimed two lives in the capital this year.

In 2011, a total of 737 cases were reported, while this year the tally has already gone over to 985 and continues to rise. In 2010, a total of 5,456 dengue cases were recorded.
