Unfazed by
the uproar over FDI in retail and other tough decisions, Prime Minister

reforms process and expressed willingness to discuss issues with allies.
"We will do what is good for the country. Reforms are not one-off
process," he said. The Prime Minister was responding to questions on demands for rollback of
decisions on FDI in multi-brand retail, diesel price hike and cap on subsidised
LPG cylinders by the opposition.

decisions could hurt their electoral prospects, Singh said the issue could be
discussed. "We are far away from elections."
Singh was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the swearing-in ceremony of
new Chief Justice of India Altamas Kabir at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
During the week, the UPA coordination committee had discussed the issue of FDI
in multi-brand retail and other decisions.

Modi's that FDI was aimed at pleasing the US, he responded saying, "What
has the US got to do with this. We are not a country to be dictated by

walked out of the UPA, he said, "I am not bitter about anything."
On the Supreme Court's opinion on the issue of auction of natural resources,

This seems to be good move by the UPA and particularly by Dr. Singh. He has always faced criticisms about being Dr. Silent and this moves will surely undo policy paralysis process..

Even if the PM says that the FDI has nothing to do with US, it may not cut ice. Go back to some three years. Indo-US Business Council was meeting in Washington. Our minister was there. So were some of our business honchos. US CEOs were aplenty and even Arthur Anderson of Dow was stated to be lurking somewhere around the arena.(Around thee days, US had asked India to abate the public outcry in India against Dow-reportred by our media). US gave a long list of items, -fdi in retail, opening up of insurance and several other projects and policy prescriptions and suggestions) Nothing bad in this though it was just somewhat crude. But they went further. They told our minister that they expected our government to do all these before their President visited India. OUr media covered this too.. Now when TMC puts a spoke in the wheel of FDI in retail, US ambassador visits coincidentally West Bengal. Surely putting all these together PM, we can believe strongly that US is ttreating us as a colony!!

Read this statemnt of the PM; read also the statement a few days back of Namo that UPA is 'singam'before US. Just as we cannot accept thes tatement that FDI has nothing to do with US we cannot a;lso accept that UPA is singham before US. it is a mere meek lamb as was sseen when our officials and the diplomats of the embassy were silent spectators when the US officials not only gave a list to our minsiter but asked him to snesure that it was done before their rpesident visited India. Do we need further proof to show that US is treating us like abaanana rwepublic?

The government had already entwined into number of scams and the Prime Minister had no option than to silently take very admonishing comments from various courts. The government failed to contain corruption which is the main barrier for governance as expected by the people. UPA coalition government with a host of bigoted agendas from all corners of the nation never helped the three organs- executive, legislature and judiciary to maintain the desired equilibrium. UPA’s Legislature and executives had a free hand and did show imperious character with scant respect to protect country’s interests. They distorted rules to thrust masked policies so as to gratify trade contestants from overseas. Corruption was dominant in every spheres of governmental functioning, when it got new dimensions by institutionalised dishonesty, Privatisations in disguise of monetary liberalisations and catalyzed frauds.
