Every cloud has a silver lining

The word server invokes images of huge racks of computers. In the age of cloud computing though, with everyone placing their data on the cloud, modern server farms need to take less space and consume lesser power and should be generally more efficient. Dr. Paramesh Gopi is helping that happening by placing servers on ARM chips which are low power consuming silicon chips generally found on mobile devices. As the President and Chief Executive Officer of Applied Micro Circuit Corporation, Dr. Gopi is at the forefront of making our cloud networks more cost effective and reliable. Dr. Gopi has a PhD in Electrical and Computing Engineering along with Masters and Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. In his illustrious career that spanned many semi conductor businesses, Dr. Gopi has been involved in many major revolutionary consumer product launches including embedded wireless networking (WiFi), and introduced gigahertz ARM processors into products ranging from the iPhone to the Sony PlayStation. Dr. Gopi started his career by founding OTI Inc., a networking company. After brief stints at fabless semiconductor companies Entridia, Inc., and Mindspeed Technologies, Dr. Gopi was employed at Marvell Semiconductor Inc where he has been most recently the Vice President and General Manager in charge of the Embedded and the Emerging Business Unit. He joined

Applied Micro in 2008 as a Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
