New Age Noah of the data deluge

04th November 2012 12:00 AM

Data. Google, Amazon, Facebook... take any of today’s major corporations and they deal in only one product. Data. The problem is that as more and more people and companies jump on to the Internet bandwagon, the already too much data gets too big to handle. Ashutosh Garg strives to rescue us from the chaos of this data deluge. He is the CTO and the co-founder of BloomReach which is a data parsing company that uses a web relevance engine to make web pages more relevant to customers.

Called the guru of all things search, Garg has a BTech from IIT-Delhi, and a PhD from University of Illinois. After his PhD, Garg worked as a Research Staff Member at IBM’s Almaden Research Center and as a research scientist at Google for four years where he worked on eight different product launches.

While at Google, he realised that while Google’s search engine is a marvel it is not delivering exactly what the consumer wants. To rectify this he founded the next Google, Bloomreach along with Raj De Datta, which made the Web Relevance Engine so that web businesses can make sure that they serve the right information to their consumers.

Garg is also a publisher and inventor with a book on machine learning, and 50+ patents to his name. He is also the recipient of awards like the IBM fellowship and the outstanding researcher award at the University of Illinois.
