Porsche bets on its V8 Cayenne Diesel

Stuttgart-based luxury auto giant Porsche hopes to make it big when it launches the all-new V8 version of the Cayenne Diesel which is leap years ahead of its V6 sibling. Here's more.

The Cayenne SUV has been a global success when it was launched by Porsche many years back. Constant development and addition of new technology have made it a strong brand. The V6 diesel was a good result but not enough and now with the all new V8 version of the Cayenne S the company hopes to cover this gap and help it reach more territories. The all new V8 diesel, a 4.2-litre bi-turbo engine produces 387PS of power and a whopping 850Nm of torque via a patented PTM all-wheel drive system that is unique for this car. The result is that this SUV has all the qualities of a rear-wheel drive sports car, while offering exceptional off-road capability.

The front-wheel drive improves stability and traction. An optional Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) enhances the dynamic performance to even sportier levels. This translates to some outstanding figures; the SUV reaches a top whack of 0-100km/h in just 5.7 seconds and top speed of 252km/h.

Interiors have not been retouched and the company will first launch the model in Germany in early 2013 and India soon after that.
