Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), which has invested close to $2.7 billion in its manufacturing facility in India, recently rolled out its five millionth car from its Irrungattukottai plant on the outskirts of Chennai.
The historic car was Hyundai’s recently launched hatchback, Grand i10. Bollywood superstar and the company’s brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan (right, in pic) was present on the occasion. The second largest car manufacturer in the country after Maruti-Suzuki has a production capacity of 6.8 lakh cars. Also it is the largest four-wheeler exporter in the country with 46 per cent share in the export market and India is an important hub for this Korean automaker.
