The vaastu plan for life insurance

It can be a sudden bodily pain, or heart ailment, or some disorder that may show up for no apparent reason. Or so you may think. But trust the age-old theory of vaastu, all such sufferings may well be connected to the way you design your home. In other words, the architecture of your home and your well-being are intertwined. The location of the entrance, rooms, balance of five elements — water, air, fire, earth and space, all have crucial connections with different parts of the building, from kitchen, water tank, balcony, shaft, open spaces, to storage. The plants in the precinct, the colour schemes, and the shapes and objects combine to create an effect that decides how well you shall remain.

Khushdeep Bansal, founder, MahaVastu Group, says: “At times, people suffer from sudden pains for no medical reason. There are over 300 documented case studies on such problems. When trained MahaVastu experts visited such homes, they found that a marmasthan was disturbed which corresponded to the affected organ in the body. When the cause of disturbance, like a nail or some heavy object or even a pyramid, was removed, the pain also disappeared within minutes.” He adds an example to show how an imbalance in the five elements can impact our lives: “If you have a granite slab in your kitchen for more than 15 years, then the lady of the house cooking food in the kitchen is likely to develop a tumour in her lower abdominal area,” he says.

Referring to the heart ailments, Bansal says: “In cases where I found people are suffering from heart ailment due to high cholesterol, or have enlarged heart or low heart beat, their homes had maximum height in the south-west direction.” He attributes the same reason to cases of anxiety. “In some other homes, where people were suffering from increased heart beat, fear and anxiety, presence of a pit, or water boring, or earthing system, or a door in the south-west zone have been the major reasons for the heart-related problems. In more than 100 homes, I found the kitchens were located in south-west zone, and the residents had swelling in heart,” Bansal adds.

Out of the 16 ‘vaastu zones’ in a home, he claims, the north and north-east zones have the power of strengthening the immune system. Bansal explains: “If you are making a new home, you must avoid placing a toilet or kitchen in this zone. In case they have been already built, you can place a hollow pyramid, made of non-conducting materials like wood or plastic, on the floor of these zones. Apart from this, avoid keeping cleaning aids like broomstick, and power back-up gadgets like the inverter in that zone. Replace them with Tulsi plants.”

For those planning to buy a house in this festive season, there are certain measures you can take as a precaution. Place a painting or a photograph of flowers in the east and north-east zones, and red flowers in the south zone of your home, says Bansal. “It will give you peace of mind and mental relaxation.” Also, placing a picture of meditating Buddha in the north-east zone of your home will facilitate your connectivity with your own self, he assures.

He also says that the south-west portion of the house should ideally be provided to elderly people or to the main owner of house in order to keep them in good health. For a sound sleep, keep  the mobile phones and other gadgets away from the bed. Also, keeping iron-made stuff beneath the bed creates health problems for people.

Besides, one must also avoid constructing kitchen and toilet together, and ensure that both the places have maximum distance from each other. “Do not keep exposed mirrors in home and cover all mirrors, including laptop computers and television screens,” says Gurgaon-based vaastu expert Pradeep Kumar. “The place under the staircase should be used for storage.  Avoid using such places as a kitchen or a toilet. Also, contrary to the popular belief, growing bamboo plants in home is inauspicious. So,  avoid it.” Kitchen in the north-east zone can cause health problems among women, he warns.
