Producer Muktha Srinivasan, who is said to have been deeply hurt by actor Kamal Haasan’s remarks about him in an article in an English daily, has sent the actor a legal notice seeking clarification. Kamal’s comments about Srinivasan in the article on the film Nayagan, coinciding with 25 years of its release, are said to have upset the latter. Srinivasan, who produced Nayagan, has asserted that Kamal had narrated some incidents that never happened, in the article, and that it would bring disrepute to his name in the industry.
Muktha Srinivasan’s son Muktha Sundar, who spoke on behalf of Srinivasan, confirmed that a legal notice had been sent to Kamal.
“My father is very upset with the whole issue. Initially, we wanted to wait for his (Kamal’s) reply before filing a defamation suit against him, but now we have decided to file the case anyway,” he said. Sundaar, however, refused to share what the legal notice sought from the actor and added that Kamal had not yet responded to them directly.
While Kamal couldn’t be reached, his spokesperson said he did not want to comment on the issue at this point of time.
