Actor Sharan and first-time director Nandakishore have hit a jackpot with their film Victory. A straight ten on ten for the witty one liners.
Seems like Sharan has mastered these kind of roles and is only getting better at them.
Chandru (Sharan) works in a matrimonial bureau. He meets Priya (Asmita Sood), a police officer's (Avinash) daughter and both fall in love with her.
The love story soon leads to marriage. Unfortunately, the couple gets into a fight on their first night and Priya leaves for her parent's house.
Chandru, who is not able to change his wife's decision, tries to commit suicide but doesn't succeed as police inspector Sadhu Gowda (Sadhu Kokila) comes to his rescue. Both become good friends and Sadhu goes out of his way to help the couple get back together.
Soon Priya realises her mistake and comes back to Chandru. Enter Ravi (Ravi Shankar) who wants to kill Chandru. For his plan to work, he gets Munna (Sharan), a look alike of Chandru's. Why is Ravi after Chandru's life and how is Munna related to Chandru is shown in the second half.
Nandakishore has handled the film very well. Packed with love, action, sentiment, drama, the film keeps you involved with good jokes.
Asmita Sood is adequate and suits the role. Known for his comic roles, Sadhu Kokila delivers some rib-tickling dialogues. All the scenes between Sharan and Sadhu Kokila are laugh riots.
Even Ravi Shankar, who is often seen as a villain, manages to act funny without being loud. Actors Tabla Nani, Avinash, Ramesh Bhat and Girija Lokesh have done their parts very well. The comic scenes ensure that there isn't even one dull moment in the film.
Other highlights of this film are the songs, and topping the charts is Khaali quatru botlli hange life u...acheg haakovle wife-u..., a great combination of Yograj Bhat lyrics, Arjun Janya's music and Vijay Prakash's voice. Debutant dialogue writer Prashanth has given a lot of funny lines that deserves appreciation, all matched to eye-catching cinematography.
The Verdict: A complete time-pass, it's a film to unwind with.
