'I am thrilled'!

Fahad Fazil, the darling of Mollywood new-gen films, credits his win at the State Film Awards to the makers of ‘Chappa Kurishu’ and ‘Akam’. “Shalini and Samir deserve the kudos. The films belong to them and I was just following their cue,” says the actor who played the roles of an envy-torn husband and callous villain to nearly perfection.

Fahad,  the most noted  among the young crop of actors, adds that though he is thrilled about his first state award, it was something totally unexpected. “It’s good that a string of new school films are slowly and steadily entering the scene and making an impact. I think next year the arena will be more dynamic,”he says.

Fahad says that as an artist he feels only deserving entries were entertained by the jury. ‘I haven’t seen ‘Vellaripravinte Changathi’, but I am assuming that it’s a good film and I feel the awards are reasonable. I don’t think it’s a time to fire off a debate based on my take of the films rather than respecting the jury’s decision,” he says.

Fahad also adds that the new-wave films could make their presence strongly felt at the awards. “All the noted films that come with the new-gen tag like ‘Traffic’, ‘Chappa Kurishu’  and ‘Salt n Pepper’ were considered. Moreover ‘Ivan Megharoopan’ and  ‘Adimadhyantham’ also bagged awards in more than one category,” he adds.
