As the Malayalam film industry treads the path of change with more and more cutting-edge cinema being made, more film folks are willingly putting their money where their mouth is. After directors Laljose and Amal Neerad, next on the block is Aashiq Abu, who is all set to produce his first film, ‘Da Thadiya’ under his new production house, ‘Open Your Mouth Cinemas’ (OPM).
The scripting of the film is currently in process.
The director who is known for his ‘out of the box’ outings has always paid keen attention to the marketing of his films.
He says, “It is high time that we should bring forth changes in the production side also in Mollywood. Quality films made with moderate budget should also be marketed well, along with big budget movies. ‘Da Thadiya’ is such an attempt.”
Aashiq’s crew of ‘22 Female Kottayam’ stays the same for his new film. Screenplay is by Abhilash Kumar and Syam Pushkaran, along with Dileesh Nair.
Music is by Bijibal Maniyil, and cinematography is by Shyju Khalid.
The lead roles will be essayed by DJ Sekhar Menon and Sreenath Bhasi.
OPM Cinemas will be launched by September.
When quizzed about the unique name, Aashiq says , “Through thi s production house, we are planning to make movies that will be different and bold.” Aashiq who says that the production house is a joint effort of his team adds that along with his movies, the films of other directors will also be produced under OPM Cinemas.
“This is a platform for good cinema and therefore directors who come up with novel ideas will be given a chance.”
