Sandalwood Sa Ri Ga Ma, a movie based on a true story, will see 72 characters making their screen presence. But what is more noteworthy is that Sharath Kadri has made this film based on the making of his unreleased film, Mareyalaare. "The story is about why my film Marayelaare discontinued after a good start," said Sharath, adding, “Sindhu Loknath in the lead role has also sung a song for the first time in the movie. She is literally playing herself  as she was cast as the lead actress in my first film.”  The makers of the film have initiated an online bidding activity on a popular social networking site. “The first audio CD was bid for `10,750,” Sharath revealed. Seventy per cent of the movie was created in graphics according to the director. “We have created IT Tech Parks, restaurants and other locations which have received tremendous appreciation,” he said.  According to Sindhu, Sandalwood... is based on a person who quits his cosy corporate career to enter the Kannada film industry as a director. “It narrates the experience of a newcomer entering the film industry and shows the peculiar aspects and elements of this industry with a twist of comedy,” Sindhu said. She added, “To be succinct, this is a story that shows how the protagonist tries to build his team and captures his experiences with various heroes, heroines, their mothers, production managers, cameramen. All these experiences with the industry, during his journey of making his directorial debut is shown in a comical way in the movie. Does the protagonist complete his movie? Does he overcome all the obstacles of this industry or does he go back to his corporate career? That is what the movie is all about.”
