Actor Sudeep, best known in Tamil industry for his negative role in Naan Ee, will be working with director K S Ravikumar in his next project.
His current directorial venture, which he took up after a nine-month gap, has him acting in the movie as well. The yet-to-be-titled film is a remake of the Telugu film Mirchi. Among Sudeep’s co-stars are Ravichandran, Ramya Krishna, Ranya and Varalakshmi. “We are all excited about the film but I am not going to let that predict the audiences’ reaction to it. I have already started shooting and I am past four to five days of the schedule. I will be travelling to Hyderabad soon for a couple of scenes that have to be shot there,” says Sudeep. About working with the famous Kannada actor Crazy Star Ravichandran, he says, “It is challenging to direct another super star.
Taking up the challenge of working with somebody who is so technically tuned-in, to whom the film markets react and someone who has a keen ear for music, is exciting. Ravichandran is the one who pioneered larger-than-life presentations in Kannada films. So it is definitely an honour to have him on the sets and have me direct him.”
The actor has found success in film industries outside of Karnataka and his stint in television as host of reality show Bigg Boss enhanced his profile. Sudeep’s philanthropy, something he doesn’t discuss, also keeps him busy.
The actor turned 40 on September 2, though his looks belie his years and his engagement dairy would put younger film stars to shame.
On the occasion of his birthday, though fans lined up overnight outside his J P Nagar residence with cakes and bouquets, for Kiccha, Monday was just another day.
“There is nothing new to do on my birthday,” says the man of the moment. A couple of cakes brought by fans and a house filled with visitors — that’s his idea of birthday celebration.
Sudeep chooses to be modest when it comes to talking about his recent successes. “I don’t feel like I have achieved something that has to be celebrated. There’s a lot more to do. What people think of as achievement, I call work. If I have done my work well and it has been appreciated, then that is my greatest reward so far. The day I can look back and feel satisfied with what I have done, I will speak about my achievements,” he says.
