Here is a column that will answer the queries of students of various career options.
I am a third year BE (ECE) student. I wish to take up the railway exam. How do i apply for the exam and when will the schedule be posted?
As you are an engineer, I suppose you are looking at joining the Railways in the engineering stream. You need to go though the Indian Engineering Services exam and seek a posting through IRSE. The selection exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission of India. More details are available at www.irse.bravehost.com
After completing an advanced diploma in homoeopathy, should I settle and practice? What are the other academic requirements for becoming a homeopathic doctor?
I am not clear about the duration of your advanced diploma and also the university. In my opinion, it is best to complete the Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery course and then begin your practice.
I have completed my BTech in IT and MS in international Business from UK. Due to VISA problems and lack of employment opportunities there I have been forced to return. I have been advised to join business. But I don’t want to waste time further. I am now learning SAP MODULES. should i take up a business or job? If it is job, what’s the easiest way to get a job?
I would recommend that you work for two-three years and then consider a change of job outside India after that. You can apply through job sites of companies who do announce their vacancies regularly. You may evaluate your decision to start your own business after gaining some basic work experience.

Sir, My Son now studying B.E.(ECE) at MIT, Anna University, Chennai in IVth year. He is having arrears in 4 subjects, i.e., 3 subjects in VIth Semester and 1 subject in Vth semester and having a scoring rate of 6.1 only in overall for 6 semesters. He is not having much interest in studying M.E./M.S., and want to attend I.A.S. Examination. But I suggest him to continue M.E. in the perception that a master degree will be helpful in his future career, whatever the scoring rate. Also I suggest instead of I.A.S. he may opt for I.E.S. (Indian Engineering Service), but he told me that it is very hard as he was doing low scoring in Engineering studies. Please guide us for our further follow up.
