CUTTACK: After suffering back- to-back defeats, Pune Warriors may have slipped to seventh place in the IPL table, but their front-line bowler Ashish Nehra believes, the Sourav Ganguly-led team is still in the race for the play-offs.
On Pune’s chances of reaching the play-off
We are still in the race. We may have lost our last two matches but that does not matter much. There are five teams with 9 or 8 points each. We are not far behind the leaders.
Delhi Daredevils are well-placed to enter the play-off. Six other teams are fighting for the remaining three places. It is a long tournament and a cle ar picture will emerge after 12 or 13 matches.
On Pune’s match vs DC
We lost to them in our first me eting at home. This time we are determined to win.
On Michael Clarke joining the squad
He is a world-class player and an asset for any team. His batting and left-arm spin bowling will strengthen our team.
On Jesse Ryder missing the practice session
He is suffering from flu and has returned back to Pune.
On overseas players doing well in the IPL
Franchisees have bought over seas players to perform well.
But Indians are not doing a bad job. Even players from ca t chment areas have impressed with their performance.
On his fitness
I am fully fit now. Though I co me under pressure while bowling during power-play, I ha ve always given my best.
