ASI loses Rs 7,000

Unidentified miscreants stole Rs 7,000 from a private vehicle owned by an assistant sub-inspector of Chittar police station during the protest at Vilappilsala.
The Vilappilsala Police said Soman, 51, the official, was part of the police team formed to provide protection for the transportation of the machinery to Vilappilsala. Soman had parked his vehicle some 500 m from the protest site. Some anti-social elements who unleashed an attack after the district administration withdrew from its effort broke the glasses of the vehicle and stole the money kept in a purse. The police said the vehicle incurred damage to the tune of ` 70,000.
