A pictorial tribute to Sathyan in B&W

09th November 2012 09:29 AM

P Jagannivasan first met actor Sathyan around four decades ago. The term superstars was not in vogue then, but Sathyan was top guy in Malayalam filmdom and had just completed 100 films.

‘’He was given a reception in the Vattiyoorkavu school back then. It was there that I saw him,’’ said Jagannivasan, who since then made a name as an artist and is also chairman, Mahatmavu Smaraka Samskrithi Bhavanam.

As Kerala celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of the actor on Friday, Jagannivasan too is paying his tribute; a portrait of Sathyan done using charcoal pencil. The portrait will be on display at Jagannivasan’s home ‘Sree Parthasarathy Mandiram’ at Vazhottukonam at 11 am on Friday.

It will also be displayed at the Karthika Thirunal Theatre, where the Sathyan Foundation is organising a function in the evening to commemorate the actor.
