It has now become very common affair to have engineering/medical seats vacant in the southern states. If there is not even enough qualified applicants to fill these seats, then: (1) Why do we have caste based quota reservation still? (2) Why the UGC is sleeping, can't it reduce the seats available in the poorly performing colleges ?

most of the people running the institutions are either filthy rich or politicians. when computer boom was there, they invested and made lot of money and also immovable property and no tax benefit for running the college under "trust". Now as computer boom is gone who else will join the college?

Andhra pradesh was floaded with engineering colleges. Having completed their engineering many stood unemployed. Without quality in education no use in establishing these many colleges. The attitude should be changed. -Trinad
