Man held for stealing cellphones

The police on Monday arrested a person who stole 14 mobile phones from a hostel of the employees of a jewellery shop in May. According to the police, the arrested Chinju Mathew, 19, Kochuparambil House, Kollayadu, Kuthuparamba, Kannur, was an employee of the jewellery shop.He was axed from the shop after a brawl with other staff members in the first week of May.
He visited the hostel in the last week of May and stole the mobile phones. The phones were sold to different mobile phone shops in Kannur and Kozhikode districts. Chinju used one of the stolen phones and the police could trace him using the mobile phone tower location. After being taken into custody, the police team interrogated Chinju and he admitted to the crime.
