North-East handicraft expo begins

Products on display at the North-East handicraft exhibition at Gangothri Hall in Kochi.
An exhibition featuring handicraft and handloom products from North East is being held at Gangothri Hall at Rajaji Road.
The exhibition is aimed at promoting the handicrafts from the region along with providing handloom products to the consumers at cheaper price, said S K Puzhari, regional manager, North East Handcrafts and Handloom Development Corporation.
Hand-woven fabrics with symbolic ornamentation of Assam, tribal ornaments made from cane, bamboo, glass beads and carpets featuring geometric and floral motifs of Arunachal Pradesh, straw and clay toys, quilted cotton materials, kauna grass cushions, mattress from Manipur, bamboo articles of Mizoram, handicrafts from Nagaland and cane and bamboo products from Tripura are the highlights of the expo which will end on December 26.
