Women’s dignity not affected at SRK’s stage show, HC told

The City police on Wednesday submitted before the Kerala High Court that no indecent representation of women happened during a dance programme attended by actor Shah Rukh Khan here.

The police said that five witnesses in the case registered against the actor deposed that women who danced with him were wearing s  kin-tight dress during the inaugural function of a leading textile shop but they did not do anything to cause indecent representation of women.

T Gopalakrishna Pillai, Assistant Commissioner of Police, submitted before the court that the investigation in the case is progressing and more witnesses have to be questioned.

The final report will be submitted soon after the completion of the investigation. The investigation so far revealed that no grave crime has taken place as alleged by the petitioner.

The police filed the statement on a petition filed by Saju Pulluvazhy of Kochi, against the inaction on the part of the law enforcement agency to implement the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act,  1986.

The petitioner said that young ladies were subjected to indecent representation of their body, including their private parts, in advertisements of textile shops, jewellery stores and cinema, in violation of the Act. 

He said that the petition was filed in good faith to protect the dignity and decency of women.

The law against the indecent representation of women was violated with the tacit approval of the law enforcement agency by publishing indecent advertisements.
