Two persons were arrested for allegedly sending photographs of a girl working as a radio jockey to her friends and relatives here on Monday. The arrested are Ashwin, 25, Palakkad, who is a merchant navy official and Gayathri, 26, of Thiruvananthapuram. According to the police, the photograph was sent by Gayathri after plotting with Ashwin to defame the victim.
Ernakulam North circle inspector B Rajan said that the victim was a close friend of Ashwin and they had been living together after her divorce in 2009. Ashwin had declined the request to marry her. After this, the victim left for Dubai and worked as a radio jockey there. “Gayathri was also an employee of the same company where the victim was working. Following a brawl between them, Gayathri plotted against the victim with the assistance of Ashwin. At first, Ashwin sent the secret photographs to Gayathri, who in turn sent it via e-mail to the relatives and other employees of the company using a fake ID.
The parents of the victim filed a complaint, on the basis of which a case was registered. Meanwhile, the victim submitted before the police that photos were taken while she was staying with Ashwin. On the basis of this, the police arrested him.
The involvement of Gayathri was suspected when the IDs of other employees were leaked. Gayathri was arrested later.
