Man from Mumbai deepens Neelima mystery

04th August 2012 08:37 AM

Minutes before her death on Tuesday, Infosys employee Neelima Yeruva received a call from a man and in fact, had a heated argument with him.

Later, she sent him an SMS. Half an- hour later, she was found dead in the parking lot of Infosys. The fresh leads emerged Friday even as the police were groping in the dark unable to conclude whether Neelima had committed suicide or was murdered. The mystery man who called Neelima hails from Vijayawada and works in Mumbai. Though the police are tight-lipped about his identity, sources told Express t h a t h i s name was Prashant.

“Neelima received a call from a person around 9.30 pm on Tuesday. We are trying to obtain call details and break the password of her e-mail account. Once we do it, we may get some clues,’’ Madhapur DCP T Yoganand said. However, sources confirmed that the cops had already obtained Neelima’s call details and accessed her mails. The DCP also clarified that they had not detained anyone so far.

‘’We are investigating the case from various angles,’’ he said. Experts from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) are assisting the Cyberabad Police to unravel the mystery. Neelima’s parents have alleged that their daughter was murdered. However, preliminary report of doctors, who conducted the autopsy, reportedly stated that “it appeared to be a case of suicide.”

Since it is inconclusive, the sleuths sent Neelima’s viscera for examination to get the correct picture. With the case attracting a lot of media attention, the police sought to put speculation to rest.

Addressing a press conference here, DCP Yoganand clarified that they had responded as soon as they received information about Neelima’s death.

“We found her hand bag on the 10th floor while her footwear was found on the seventh. We suspect she fell from the seventh floor of the 15-storeyed multi-level parking lot,’’ he said and released CCTV footage provided by Infosys.

In the video, she could be seen entering the office and swiping her ID card around 8.40 p.m. Around 9 pm, she entered into building no 18 and 19 and came out. At 10.29 pm, she went to the parking lot.

“Security guard P S Ramesh, who was posted near the parking lot, heard a loud sound. He rushed inside and found Neelima lying in a pool of blood on the ground. He alerted the security officer of the company and Neelima was shifted to a hospital. We could not alert her parents soon after the incident took place as her mobile was locked. We found a slip in her hand bag in which she scribbled the mobile numbers of her mother Rani and husband Suresh.  Police called them and broke the tragic news to them,’’ the DCP explained.

Asked about the delay in contacting Neelima’s parents, he replied that it was because of the non-availability of their mobile numbers.

“It was only after several hours that her hand bag was opened and the slip containing the numbers was found,” he claimed. Neelima joined Infosys in 2006 and got married to Boyapati Suresh Reddy, a mobile phone company dealer, in 2009. She went to USA in 2011 on project work and returned to the city on leave on July 21.

Hello sir, How do you know that she had a heated argument before getting any information about her cell phone or her emails? Something mystery is going on and infosys is trying to suppress the news.. Don't look for the company name think about a life has gone.... Try to find the true story we would really appreciate. Thanks

i totally support avila because a life is more important than an repitition of a company please sir i also request u to tell the story what ever happend in the neelima case. if atall company questions u we support u sir. please revele the truth. PLEASE.thank you

What has the company got to do in this? It is very unfortunate that this lady ended her life...what's worse is she did it in the office campus! You cannot penalize the company for the foolishness shown by one of it's employees, can you? This lady has shown nothing but cowardice. She has 2 kids and yet she decided to take this step...nothing, nothing at all in this world is reason enough for someone to commit suicide!! Not only did she mess up her life, but she also messed up her family's lives...stupid girl!

She clearly committed Suicide, My point of view in this regard is she didn't find enough time to talk with Prashant (Pandu) and decide on her future as she has to flee back to US with her hubi and she might have thought she has to miss Pandu after that. As an employee she can only go till reception , as she didn't have any project related to her done from that campus. She need a place to talk her heart out. she chose the parking lot. There might be some heated argument between the duo which forced her to jump, though she left her bag on 10th floor..

First of all R.I.P to Neelima..Guyz I watched the last video where she is walking towards car parking lot.. She doesn't luk hurry/disturbed there..Some one might have invited her there..I guess she might have went to 10th floor first in car parking lot(Its a bit lonely as far as I know) and met that unknown person over there. Then they might have had heated argument. She might have tried to suicide from 10th which that person might have stopped(by chance). May be by running down till 7th floor where she found its time to jump ...in that hurry, she might have lost one of her shoes and then jumped off...(OR) As her mother says she is too strong at heart...She might have been pushed from stairs....(OR) She might have got last call from that guy prasanth and she might have been depressed very heavily and decided to Jump. But that culprit if really exists should be caught and hanged...Infosys should help to resolve this matter...Other women in the Infy are worried as far as I know.

Infosys is a company which puts employees into deep stress. Employees personal life is not a concern point there. Employees feel aloof and they really loose courage to deal their problems.Due to the stress, associates small problems will be magnified in their mind and lead to end their life. My opinion..

Now a days we should see why stress is forming. In olden days why it is not there that much which probes suicide. Gents or girls has to balance their personal life first before coming to the job. In this case neelima is having her husband and children. She is in US and entire family is in india. She went to us in 2011. Don’t she feel loosing some thing at the end of the day. With that people feel stress as they are not able to balance their personal life. If they don’t have that confortable zone better not to do any job. Its purely of fate written by her own hands knowingly.

No company can stress out an employee if the employee doesnt want to be stressed. All software companies are alike, there is lot of work pressure, so we cannot single out Infosys. It is really sad to see people blaming the company which has helped them earn their livelihood. Yes, I do agree that the hectic timelines do take a toll on your personal lives, but what options do we have? (1) change the work culture (2) try to seek out ways to optimize work-life balance (3) seek another profession. Have you see how private banks work these days? We expect 24*7 services from all fields, dont we? Once we stop expecting that and realize that everyone needs to take a day off to relax, things will start falling in place. Dont blame the company!!! Oh...fyi....I'm a software engineer...have been in this profession for 12 yrs now....work for one of the rival companies

Whatever it may be govt og Andhra pradesh and police of Andhra Pradesh should find what is truth. So many people like Neelima mudered non of them was caught why this hapened in India. When India will change still Indian people dose not accept law and order. Gengle raj.
