New changes in Facebook?

A new look for Timeline was spotted over the weekend in New Zealand, a country where the social networking website Facebook typically tries out new features. The layout had a single-column for all the posts and updates on your Timeline, instead of two columns, reported tech site Cnet.

A representative for the company told Cnet that the new design Facebook being tested was improved to make navigating Timeline even easier.

The new layout which sports a single-column for all the posts and updates is by itself a welcome change from the current double-column layout, which often does become confusing and unnecessary for the casual user. With status updates and other posts on the right, an “About” section appears on the left with bits and pieces from the user’s profile. The years appear all the way on a right sidebar, where one can jump to a particular year. A new “Like Page” button takes one directly to BuzzFeed’s official Facebook page. This tweak seems designed to help people more easily find the actual Facebook pages of different businesses and organizations.

Though theses changes sound convenient, it is still unclear if the changes will indeed be introduced for all users, and if it does, when.

And even as excitement about the new Timeline barely settles, the tech site further reported a possible new design for Facebook’s News Feed this Thursday. According to an invite sent out by the company, it simply said, “Come see a new look for News Feed.”
