Techie writes to collector to collect his treasure

Kandukuri Satish Gupta, from whose house in Doodhbowli in the Old City a treasure estimated to be worth around Rs 7 crore was found by a group of workmen, has finally written to the Hyderabad District Collector Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi claiming  his share.

An IT professional, Satish, believes that he deserves a share in the treasure trove found in the wall of his demolished house where his family had stayed for almost 50 years and he himself was brought up. His family had stayed at the premises till recently when they decided to demolish the building and construct a new one. “We thought of doing Bhumi pooja on Diwali and had started demolition work a few days before that. We came to know about the treasure from journalists who came to enquire about it,” said Satish, who now lives with his wife and parents at a rented house in Doodhbowli. “There is no clarity in the whole procedure. I am in talks with my lawyer to go for a legal claim,” said Satish, adding that as a first step, he had written to the collector. Recalling that his grandfather was a money-lender, he felt the treasure might have been hidden by him. Police recovered Mughal and Nizam era gold coins , gold ornaments from the workers and arrested most of them.
