Heavy rain likely in parts of state in 48 hours

Under the influence of low-level Northeasterly monsoon prevailing over the state, rains or thundershowers are likely at several places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and some places in Rayalaseema and Telangana in the next 48 hours.

Meteorological department officials said isolated heavy rainfall would occur in some places of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor districts.

Sky condition in the state capital in the next 24 hours would be generally cloudy with rain or thunder storms at some places. The temperature is likely to vary between a maximum of 30 degree Celsius and a minimum of 22 degree Celsius.

On Saturday, the maximum temperatures fell at many places in Rayalaseema and at a few places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They were markedly below normal at one or two places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, below normal at many places in Rayalaseema and at a few places in Telangana.

The highest maximum temperature of 35 degree Celsius was recorded at Khammam. The minimum temperatures rose at one or two places over the state. The lowest minimum temperature of 15 degree Celsius was recorded at Adilabad.

The Chittoor district headquarters town had received the highest rainfall of 9 cm on Saturday, followed by Tirupati (6 cm), Aswaraopeta in Khammam district (5 cm), Avanigadda, Tiruvur in Krishna district, Amalapuram in East Godavari district, Venkatagiri town of Nellore district, Srikalahasti, Satyavedu, Tambalapalle of Chittoor district, Rayachoti of Kadapa district and Nalgonda district headquarters town receiving 3 cm of rain.
