‘Kongu Maamani’ title for Sivakumar

Chennai As  part of the golden jubilee celebrations of Kongu Friends’ Association, film actor Sivakumar was felicitated and honoured with‘Kongu Maamani’ title, at a grand event attended by people from all walks of life.

“The award is in recognition of his invaluable service rendered towards the upliftment of the Kongu community,” said Bharani K Balasubramani, president, Kongu  Friends Association.

Tamil scholar Silamboli Chellappanar inaugurated the function that was held on September 2 at Kamarajar Arangam.

Students of the community, who excelled in studies, were presented medals, cash awards and certificates.    

Dr K K  Laxmanan, K C Karuppan, Dr K Ardhanari, Chinnasamy, K Nallathambi, M Mani, K Muthusamy, T Shankar, Krupa Pushparaj, R Ramachandran were conferred with the titles ‘Kongu Saadanaiyaalar’.

‘Velinaadu Kongu Saadanaiyaalar’ title was conferred upon R Karunakaran, while K P Duraisamy, T Ramakrishnan, S  Umapathy were awarded ‘Kongu Velaan Saadanaiyaalar’ title.
