Doctors rape teen, case registered

City police registered a case on Sunday night against two doctors who allegedly raped a teenage nurse who came to Chennai for a training programme from Kerala.

The nineteen-year-old girl arrived in the city on July 8 for a special training programme in the Kerala Ayurvedic Health Centre in Anna Nagar. She had recently joined the centre’s branch in Tiruchy.

The doctors, Ajil Kumar (43) of Tiruchy, and KR Shijith (40) of Chennai, both practising ayurveda, picked up the victim from Egmore Railway Station. Shijith was also the manager of the health centre.

The duo took her to an apartment in Anna Nagar where they had raped her on the same day.

They also reportedly threatened her with dire consequences if she spoke about the incident.

Scared by the threats, she kept quiet and turned up for her scheduled training in the centre.

After attending training for a couple of days, she left the training programme unable to cope with the trauma. She then  informed one of her friends and both decided not to let the accused get away from this.

They approached Anna Nagar Police Station which asked them to lodge the complaint with JJ Nagar police station as the apartment fell within that jurisdiction.

Around 11 pm, both the girls met JJ Nagar Inspector Sekar Babu who received their complaint.

Subsequently, he registered a case under sections 376 and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code against the doctors.

A special team was formed, comprising two sub-inspectors, Gowri Shankar and Selva Vinayagam, which went on the hunt for the accused who had gone underground since the report of the incident.

Meanwhile, the health centre which usually functions on Monday, remained shut.

Advocate Sridhar, who represented the victim, told Express that Prema, a constable attached to Thirumangalam police, delayed the process of justice by trying to intimidate the victim.

“The victim first filed a complaint at the Thirumangalam police station on July 10, but no action was taken. Five days later, a fresh complaint was lodged at the JJ Nagar police station, after which the police got cracking,” he added.

the beasts should be hanged in public view. It is a shame for Tamilnadu

Such Doctors should just be hanged to death. If they are so intrested to do such activities there are always places for these sorts. Why would they want to do this innocent victims who come all the way for their bread and butter?? Just because someone knows him personally doesnt makes him a good person. He needs to act GENTLEMAN to put such victims to trap!! Wonder if they also had those hidden camera's to capture sensual shots of the patience?? Such creeps should never be escaped from the law whatever may be their influence!! These duo are an insult to other form of genuine doctors! People, please start teaching your son not to harras women instead of teaching your daughter to dress!!

The current law for road accidents and lady molestation is that the first PS has to initiate action so Thirumangalam PS the OC, Duty Officer on July 10, 2012 with the Constable who intimidated the Lady must be brought to book under the law first as it is tantamount to denial of protection and justice.
