‘Support My School’, a campaign for renovation of Government and Corporation schools and dedicated to students, was jointly organised by beverage giant Coca Cola and World Vision, at the Government Higher Secondary School in M K B Nagar recently.
The campaign undertakes activities such as improving access to water, bringing in appropriate sanitation facility for boys and girls, providing sports and recreation facilities and improvement in the overall infrastructure and environment among others.
World Vision has also contributed to the campaign by renovating the toilets that were unfit to be used in the school.
Mayor Saidai Duraisamy, who was present at the function, said the endeavours of the organisations in renovating the school were laudable. He also said that the State Government has allocated amount nearly to the tune of `17,500 crore for the development of Government and Chennai schools which might not suffice to fulfil all the demands.
He sought the help of organisations under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme for this purpose. He further asked the organisations to allocate more funds to provide more facilities for schools that were in the need of their assistance for an overall development in the future.
