Season’s greetings: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa being treated to the Christmas cake by Archbishop A M Chinappa during the celebrations in the city on Monday | Express
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday said that the education and virtues that she received from the Christian educational institutions where she spent her schooldays alone were the primary reasons for her growth and thanked the teachers for laying a very strong foundation for the rest of her life.
“The education and the virtues that I received from the Christian educational institutions are the primary reasons for my growth. Whatever I learned during my school days stand by me as unflinching support to me even today....only because of that I am able to discharge any big responsibility with ease. I wholeheartedly thank my teachers who have laid a very strong foundation for the rest of my life,” she said, speaking at the Christmas celebrations hosted by her.
Jayalalithaa went nostalgic by recalling her school days in Bangalore and Chennai. During her days in Bishop Cotton School in Bangalore, she used to attend the Bible classes on Sundays along with her Christian classmates and thoroughly studied all Bible stories which preach the virtues needed for routine life. “I take pride in saying that I grew up by practising the virtues I was taught then,” she added.
Referring to the recollection of Archbishop Madras-Mylapore Archdiocese AM Chinnnappa about her role in the film Annai Velankanni many years ago, Jayalalithaa said the film was produced by dance master Thangappan, a Christian.
“Myself and other actors who worked in that film did not receive any remuneration for the same. I take pride in saying that I have great respect for Christianity and Christians since many many years,”she added.
Hailing the cultural programmes performed by students of Kalaikkaveri Fine Arts College from Tiruchy, the Chief Minister said by their excellent performance, they proved beyond doubt that art surpasses the barriers of caste, creed etc.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister cut the Christmas cake and offered it to Arch Bishop Chinnappa and he in turn, offered a piece of cake to her.
Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscorus, Archbishop of Indian Orthodox Church, Bishop M Prakash, Synod of the Independent Churches of India Bishop of Arcot Lutheran Church RD Vijay Kumar, Rabi Bernard, MP and ST Chellapandian, Labour Minister spoke on the occasion. JCD Prabhakar, AIADMK MLA, proposed a vote of thanks.

Gratitude! Hope she will take a stand for Dalit Christians freedom of religion in India. This is the best chance for CM to return kindness to the oppressed Christians of India. Christianity is not a threat to secular India, but discrimination and injustice!!! Please Don't Let the Prejudice stop you from taking part in the most joys occasion,Celebrate the Joy of Christmas! Peace on earth and good will to all Indians!

Really, Raju? But history shows that Christianity is a threat to peace, to unity of non-christians, to secularism. Which is why the west first had to rid itself of church before revolutionizing its development. I am afraid it is you who are prejudiced :)

Really? Check the site and see who started and dwelt on prejudice. An innocent gesture of thanks by the CM to her alma mater, especially during a festive season of Christianity has opened the flood gate of Hindu prejudice towards Christians. Towards a community numbering barely 3 to 4% in India compared to the overwhelming majority of others, the RSS fanatical group succeeded in creating, encouraging and spreading a phobia of Christian design to convert Hindus. Many well intentioned Hindu brethren are falling for the propaganda and letting themselves be influenced by such craven lies. However, it won't be too long before 600 million unprivileged and downtrodden Indians will be marching across India to overthrow the shackles of caste, deliberately put upon them to bind them to slavery.

Dear Curious onlooker, I do not agree that it is an innocent gesture, and I do not see it as prejudice to evaluate her deeds with her own claims of how her personality shaped. It does not matter what is the percentage, what matters is who does what. The caste hate in India is fully propelled by the British-Christian divisive tactic, and there is no need to pretend about this - data is overwhelming for anyone sincere to look through. Christians speaking about downtrodden is just like the 80's movies where the villian exploits a misled brother of a large noble family to divide the family, to tell him his brothers are illtreating him and eventually trying to destroy the whole family. Christians have not achieved any amity between any sections except propagating differences. It is the same RSS you criticize that works towards amity between castes. On the other hand Jaya's actions are no innocent - the way she tried to systematically target Kanci.

There is no gainsaying that religion is an emotional issue. But that doesn't allow us to use misconceived arguments with nauseating language on a social media. My wife is virtuous should not be construed as -'your wife is a prostitute.'Going by the responses, one comes to the conclusion that not even a single religion worth the name has been capable of teaching good manners to its followers. In one sense we are all equal. We never learn. We never become wise.Even from gods!--First,we introspect.Analyse our merits and demerits. Then, with self confidence, judge others.Mere exhibiting intense anger is no justification.--CM's good gesture out of common sense in dealing with public affairs need not have been stretched thus far,by the irresponsible audience. We all have private opinions. We have guts to put them across. But,THIS is positively NOT the right occasion.

How can it be decided whether the audience is responsible or otherwise? And how can it be a question of private opinion when the news is public? What is the relation between religion and manners of individuals? If you read a little more responsibly and carefully, you would easily notice that none of the comments said anything about Christian beliefs or Christianity - they have merely expressed dissent about the way the *motivated section* of Christians are interfering with Hindus. That is no criticism on christian community in general, nor Christianity. Please do not mix up things, and not mislead yourself and others.

The venom poured on Christian community in these pages are to be taken as nothing because a Hindu "zealot" said so; but it is unacceptable for any one to comment on the fanaticism shown by the majority community. Indian Vedanta and its scriptures must be rewritten to reflect the fact that caste systems were brought into India by the British and implanted into the Hindu psyche during their rule, questioning the very basic belief among Hindus of reincarnation.Any attempt to defend against lies spread by the zealots on Christianity, must be the work a "motivated section of Christians" who is out to change the demographic composition of India to the disadvantage of Hindus.

I have already mentioned sufficiently clearly - there is not a single statement made against christian community or beliefs. Venom is a carefully used word, quite cunningly by you - demonstrate where venom against *christian community* is in my message. It is strictly limited to the interference missionaries are doing with Hindu society, the hate propagation, the divisive agenda - why are you trying to misguide?

oi truth ( liar) the convert, don't call me names you gutter trash. i am not a brahmin in the first place. i am an ordinary tamil guy. converts are of course cowards and the reason being that they dumped their original hindu faith and have taken cover under an alien faith. brahmins are not a dominating force in tamil nadu and no one is required to be slaves. i don't know what you are talking about. i guess you converts suffer from a massive inferiority complex for several reasons which i will not be permitted to write here by the moderator. if you consider vedas are garbage i would say bible is a toilet paper . in my opinion all the toilet paper bibles should be collected and dumped in cooam. we hindus will rise one day and we will teach you converts a lesson which you you will never be able to forget. when i look at that chinnapa or whoever i feel like giving him a punch. krishna is not giving milk to kids so your alien god jesus has taken his place yeah. shut up and get lost you con

The converts "dumped" Hindu religion because they were classified into various inhuman caste systems based on religious superstitions and treated with no human rights. Other religions welcomed and accorded them equality and restored them to their human dignity.A people who couldn't defend themselves against onslaughts from Genghis Khan down to the British, should not boast about teaching others a lesson.

oi convert, what are you talking about. religion alone cannot be held responsible for the existence of caste system in tamil nadu or elsewhere. tamil people themselves are responsible for caste based practices. what equality you are talking about you ignorant idiot. when black africans were taken as slaves to america ,christianity and western names were forced upon them. but they never found equality under toilet christianity. so now they are converting to islam.what equality has toilet christianity given to dalits. dalits will always be dalits whether they remain in or out of hindu faith. i say to you if you don't like india and hindu religion please leave. we hindus don't want traitors who live in india with anti indian and anti hindu feelings. jai hind. i hear some upper castes converts( ?) don't allow dalits to attend their church or bury the dead in their cemetery. in my opinion toilet christianity should be driven out of tamil nadu along with m f chinnapa.

I wish she had learnt Hindu scriptures as well, which would have taught her Dharmic values.Don't we know why she got the Golden Star Award, and who gave it to her? The frequent full-page ads in newspapers with her photograph are a waste of public money. Doesn't she realize this? Is this good governance?
Posted by Vijayalakshmi at 12/13/2012 21:29 Reply to this Report abuse
What Dharmic values areyou talking about? Hindu Dharma and Vedas are pure nonsense.See your so-called Hindu Leaders...Kanchi Mutt fellows...all Thugs and Crooks. Then there is that Dayananda Saraswati, another guy who believes in ManuDharma( which is total Racism) and then goes about collecting money pretending to help few children. Atleast in Christianity they help you socially. No wonder Dalits are Converting to Christianity and why not?

This is exactly what I called as hate propaganda - if folks mind *their own business* instead of targeting others, the way you are doing about Hindu scriptures and organizations, there would be no unrest.

oi oi just shut your face. your christian clergy are being investigated for child sexual abuse all over the world. we in tamil nadu should start investigating about the conduct of our catholic and christian clergy. i am of the opinion this should be given priority and amma should appoint a commission to look into the child abuse by these christian monsters. you have no right to talk about hindu dharma when your own religion stinks like hell. everyday we read in newspapers about converts who have cheated the public and disappeared with thousands of rupees. we also read about sexual abuse in christian schools. in my opinion all christian schools and colleges should be taken over by hindu missions. all churches should be razed to the ground.
