Christian institutions shaped my personality: Jayalalithaa

11th December 2012 08:40 AM

Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday said that the education and virtues that she received from the Christian educational institutions where she spent her schooldays alone were the primary reasons for her growth and thanked the teachers for laying a very strong foundation for the rest of her life.

“The education and the virtues that I received from the Christian educational institutions are the primary reasons for my growth.  Whatever I learned during my school days stand by me as unflinching support to me even today....only because of that I am able to discharge any big responsibility with ease.  I wholeheartedly thank my teachers who have laid a very strong foundation for the rest of my life,” she said, speaking at the Christmas celebrations hosted by her.

Jayalalithaa went nostalgic by recalling her school days in Bangalore and Chennai. During her days in Bishop Cotton School in Bangalore, she used to attend the Bible classes on Sundays along with her Christian classmates and thoroughly studied all Bible stories which preach the virtues needed for routine life.  “I take pride in saying that I grew up by practising the virtues I was taught then,” she added.

Referring to the recollection of Archbishop Madras-Mylapore Archdiocese AM Chinnnappa about her role in the film Annai Velankanni many years ago, Jayalalithaa said the film was produced by dance master Thangappan, a Christian.

“Myself and other actors who worked in that film did not receive any remuneration for the same.  I take pride in saying that I have great respect for Christianity and Christians since many many years,”she added.

Hailing the cultural programmes performed by students of  Kalaikkaveri Fine Arts College from Tiruchy, the Chief Minister said by their excellent performance, they proved beyond doubt that art surpasses the barriers of caste, creed etc.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister cut the Christmas cake and offered it to Arch Bishop Chinnappa and he in turn, offered a piece of cake to her.

Dr Yuhanon Mar Dioscorus,  Archbishop of Indian Orthodox Church, Bishop M Prakash, Synod of the Independent Churches of India  Bishop of Arcot Lutheran Church RD Vijay Kumar, Rabi Bernard, MP and ST Chellapandian, Labour Minister spoke on the occasion. JCD Prabhakar, AIADMK MLA, proposed a vote of thanks.

“I take pride in saying that I grew up by practising the virtues I was taught then" Yes arrest Jayendra Saraswathi that was what taught to you in those classes. Arrest heathens. She is Englipeeching very well. Fortunately Tamil Nadu is not Orissa where a Swami was shot dead. Jayendra is still alive and hope he comes out of this false case hoisted on him. He looks set to come out of this. case. Hope this bad karma of JJ befalls on her and she is punished by Lord Siva.

Very nice comedy herself saying she has nice and shaped personality. World knows what kind of personality she has

Assalamualikum how r u all

Not just JJ but countless numbers of alumni had benefited from mission run schools and colleges across India, not merely having graduated in their course of studies but importantly instilling the graduands with a higher sense of duty and discipline during their sojourn. The feverish rush to gain admissions to Christian institutions of studies would testify to these facts.JJ was frank and thankful about how her personality had been shaped not just by the curriculum she chose but by the precepts she had absorbed. It is sad many of the comments expressed here reflect malice and religious prejudice, overlooking the contributions these institutions have made to the nation.

Dear brother curious onlooker Don't joking. Without conversion ambition, do the christians run these educational institutions?

If the Institutions are service oriented, why is Bible scripture classes mandatory for every one? If a students wishes to opt out, will he/she be allowed to do so?? Early this year, a teacher was suspended from a school, which had chritians at all top level mgmt, just because she sang a Hindu prayer before the students were going for the Public exam. The reason she for her suspension was mentioned as "she used abusive lang" !!! But, people will call this as "Secularism". No schools run by Hindus force the religion on the students. Though my school had a Saraswati sloka as Prayer song, students from other religions were allowed to opt out of the Prayer session, if requested. They were allowed to have a seperate Prayer session, in morning, if needed !!! Will such a thing, ever happen in a Christian school???

Of course, and the current perversion of parlance is courtesy what these schools teach.

Oh Jesus, Please forgive her mistakes. Anyhow she is secular. Oh people, Please forget her mistakes. Because she is secular.
