From Jharkhand to Gujarat, from Kashmir to Pochampally, from Banaras to Mysore variants, they were all there, at the Valluvar Kottam on Thursday. The event in question was the Silk Mark Expo – 2012, which was inaugurated by Governor K Rosaiah.

Organised by the Silk Mark Organisation of India (SMOI), silk weavers and traders from across the nation are participating in the six-day expo.

Governor K Rosaiah visited the stalls in the expo and examined the silk products showcased by each of them. Senior executive of SMOI P M Pandi said that this year’s event was prompted by last year’s success. “The event’s aim is to make available all silk products under one roof” All products available at the event would have the ‘Silk Mark’ label, which is an assurance of its purity. In addition to this, handicraft products are also on sale.
