Members of Indian National League Party picketed Actor Vijay's house condemning the portrayal of Muslims as terrorists in Chennai on Wednesday. Express/ Albin Mathew
Thuppakki, Vijay’s latest flick, landed in another controversy soon after it hit screens this Deepavali as activists of a Muslim group attempted to picket the actor’s residence at Neelankarai on Wednesday to condemn the movie’s alleged portrayal of Muslims as terrorists. Sixty activists of the Indian National League Party (INLP) were arrested for the protest.
Police increased security at Vijay’s residence after receiving intelligence warnings of likely protests by the INLP. T Nagar DC P Pakalavan said that security had also been tightened at the residence of A R Murugadoss, the film’s director, in Virugambakkam, as a precautionary measure.
The INLP activists had gathered near Vijay’s residence and shouted slogans against him and the film in Arabic and Urdu, claiming that the movie hurt their sentiments by characterising them as anti-Indian . A police team led by assistant commissioner P Umashankar arrested the protesters as they prepared to lay siege to the actor’s house. Adyar DC R Sudhakar told Express that the arrested activists were released later in the evening.
Thuppakki had been in the news earlier over copyright issues with the team of Kalla Thuppakki, which later withdrew its case. Moreover, a promotion poster of the movie showing Vijay shirtless and smoking a cigar had irked anti-tobacco activists.

Islam is the most intolerant religion ever. In Saudi non muslim are not allowed to build any temple. You cannot even have a picture of deities in your pocket.

Qur’an:9:5 “Fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, harass them, lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.” Qur’an:9:29 “Fight those who do not believe until they all surrender, paying the protective tax in submission.” Qur’an:8:39 “Fight them until all opposition ends and all submit to Allah.”

rajtimal, You are correct in pinpointing the verses of Quran, but howver you failed to understand when and under what circumstances theese verses were revealed. During the inital of Prophet Muhamad (PBUH), the muslim community whoever accepted islam were very small, these small group of people were tortured, stonned to death and killed by the non-believers in Mecca. These versus were revealed to not to hurt anyone but to protect the muslims by themselves from any violence.

Farook, Quran is from Allah to human beings and is relevant for all the time, isnt it? Even seen within context those verses are difficult to read. When explaining to non-muslims only, the Muslims talk about context in which the verses were revealed. But the fact is Quran is supposed to be a Guidebook for mankind from Allah and is relevant for all the times. Muhammad's life has nothing to do with it. Muslims in Islamic nations who dont have the inconvinence of answering kafirs like me, see Quran without any specific context, literally. People who do the same here becomes terrorists.

No movie should belittle another community. The idea of making a movie is to make money in the long run. So why stir up controversies. Just stick to a 'safe' story and laugh all the way to the bank. Unneccessarily courting problems. Just stay clear of controversial subjects.
