Ashok, top cops go on night rounds

Bangalore will celebrate a safe and peaceful Eid-ul-Fitr. This was the message Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok had for Bangaloreans as he set about an night-long review of security on Sunday night.

The minister was accompanied by city police commissioner B G Jyothiprakash Mirji, DG&IGP Lalrokhuma Pachuau, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) M A Saleem and ADGP Bipin Gopalakrishna.

The team first visited the Masjid-e-Akbari at Neelasandra, where Ashok met the members of the Muslim community. He said, “You are with us, and that is all we want. Bangalore is a peaceful city. On Eid-ul-Fitr, we will show the world that we are together.” He delivered a similar message at the Makkah Masjid mosque at Bazaar Street.

“Units of the Rapid Action Force, Central Reserve Police Force and other police personnel are patrolling the streets to ensure nothing goes wrong,” Ashok said.

He also visited the Tibetan Youth Hostel at Koramangala, where he was welcomed by Gyari Dolma, Home Minister of the Tibetan Government-in-Exile. He said, “The police are always with the minorities. The majority will take care of themselves. We are here to serve you.”
