BANGALORE: After a lot of out cry over the state of teacher training colleges under Bangalore University, Vice-Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev has formed a Task Force Committee to inspect BEd and MEd colleges falling under the university's purview. The Task Force will function till June 30, 2013.
Academic Council member H Karan Kumar has been named Chairperson, with four other members and a convenor.
This comes in the wake of recurring complaints that the Vice-Chancellor got over the academic programmes and other irregularities in these colleges.
“The Task Force is authorised to undertake surprise inspection of the colleges to obtain first-hand information regarding the conduct of BEd and MEd courses. It may inspect admissions, attendance, appointments of teachers, internal assessment marks and other aspects,” states the Vice-Chancellor's order.
The Task Force has to submit a report to the Vice-Chancellor once a month, followed by a comprehensive report after inspections within the first three months.
“Our first priority is to go on a fact-finding spree. We plan to involve everyone concerned through informal talks and meetings in the first six months,” said Karan Kumar He added that a period of one year was sufficient to understand the problems of the colleges.
