Curiosity turns man into a healer

“My mother suffered from diabetes at the age of 65 and brother was affected with epilepsy. He suffered from the side effects of medicines and was so depressed that one day, over 20 years ago, he left home, never to return,” said 82-year-old K S Sreeram, whose observation and questioning as to why people suffer from these diseases motivated him to read books on Ayurveda and start experimenting with various formulae.

Today, he has come up with cure for the blood pressure and diabetes using herbal medicines.

“I was suffering from gastric problems for over 40 years. I went to the Ayurveda Research Centre near Ashoka Pillar to get the problem diagnosed and consulted the practitioners. I spoke to them about my interest in researching. They suggested me to read certain books on Ayurveda after which I studied for about two years,” he said.

After many years of research, he finally came up with a formula, wherein he mixed various herbs available in different parts of the country and tried his experiments on himself. He then experienced results as his gastric problem reduced gradually.

He did not stop his experiments there. He then went on to find cure for asthma. He has also distributed the medicines to people suffering from asthma in slums. He said, “I have prepared medicines for blood pressure, diabetes and renal problems. There is improvement witnessed in the health of the patients who are diagnosed with the medicines I have prepared. Doctors commonly try to bring down the level of blood pressure or diabetes level in the patients.

In case of renal problems, doctors suggest that the patient undergo renal transplantation but I have made an attempt to cure the problems.”

Sreeram, who was earlier a food grains merchant, later started dealing with ceramic items. He has completed his pre-university education but could not continue his education further due to financial constraints.

When asked about his future plans, he said, “I am planning to start an ayurvedic clinic with a purpose to render service to society. I am also planning to start clinics in gulf countries, as people there often suffer from renal problems. These medicines would be helpful for them. I have also requested for permission from the government there. I have received approval for my medicines from the Testing in Bangalore.”

He also plans to launch food items with medicinal values in the United States.
