HC summons to Poonam Pandey

The sixth additional chief metropolitan magistrate (ACMM) court, on Wednesday, summoned controversial model and actress Poonam Pandey on charges of hurting the sentiments of Hindus, by posing semi-nude with Lord Vishnu’s photo.

The court has summoned her to be physically present before it on February 26, 2013.

City-based advocate S Umesh filed a private case on May 22 earlier this year stating that Pandey, who had challenged Indian cricketers that she would pose nude if they won against Pakistan, had posed semi-nude in April 2011, with a morphed photo of Lord Vishnu.

“Vishnu’s photo was morphed with cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s face and bat and this insulted the feelings of Hindus,” he had stated in the complaint.

Initially the case was filed under sections 295, 295 (A) and 504 of IPC. After the arguments, the court refused to take up the case under sections 295 and 504, but agreed to admit it under section 295A.
