Sensex opens 0.35% higher; Metal, HC, Realty lead

Indian markets continued to gain in early trade for the sixth day on Wednesday. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 63.18 points or 0.35% at 17,916.13, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 14.45 points or 0.27%, at 5,404.45.
At 9.21 am, the Sensex was trading up 84.02 points or 0.47% at 17,936.97 with 26 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 15.45 points or 0.29% at 5,405.45 with 44 components gaining.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of
10.74 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (7.8
points), Reliance Industries (7.38 points), Larsen & Toubro
(7.21 points) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4.71 points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 1.72 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Hero Motocorp (1.14 points), Bharti Airtel (0.39 points), Reliance Communications (0.09 points) and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.25 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.43%), Tata Motors (1.40%), Tata Steel (1.30%), Sterlite Industries (India) (1.12%), Hindalco Industries (0.92%), and I C I C I Bank (0.83%).
On the other hand, Hero Motocorp (0.53%), Jindal Steel & Power (0.33%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.13%), and Bharti Airtel (0.10%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.

Sectors in Limelight
The Metal index was at 9,836.32, up by 76.25 points or by 0.78%. The major gainers were Hindustan Zinc (1.17%), Hindalco Industries (0.92%), JSW Steel (0.88%), NMDC (0.77%) and Coal India (0.66%).
The HC index was at 7,793.63, up by 55.27 points or by 0.71%. The major gainers were Divis Laboratories (1.21%), Cadila Healthcare (0.87%), Biocon (0.42%), Aurobindo Pharma (0.27%) and Cipla (0.09%).
The Realty index was at 1,565.05, up by 10.75 points or by 0.69%. The major gainers were Godrej Properties (2.35%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (1.44%), D L F (0.95%), Anant Raj Industries (0.88%) and Indiabulls Real Estate (0.44%).
The Bankex index was at 11,696.17, up by 71.60 points or by 0.62%. The major gainers were I C I C I Bank (0.83%), Bank Of Baroda (0.81%), Bank Of India (0.73%), Canara Bank (0.72%) and H D F C Bank (0.26%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 666 advances against 150 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 496.11 million. It was followed by Siemens (Rs. 51.88 million), United Spirits (Rs. 19.95 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 19.47 million).
The volume chart was led by Aqua Logistics with trades of over 0.51 million shares. It was followed by NOCIL (0.39 million), Spicejet (0.39 million) and Cals Refineries (0.28 million).
