Sensex jumps 337 points; CG, Realty, Metal lead

Indian markets ended on a cheerful note on Friday after ECB announced potentially unlimited bond buying plan to save the region"s currency. Moreover, USjobs reports is awaited today evening. Capital goods, realty and metal stocks gained ground.
At the close, the benchmark 30-share index, BSE Sensex added 337.46 points or 1.95% at 17,683.73 with 30 components registering rise. Meanwhile, the broad based NSE Nifty climbed by 103.70 pointsor 1.98% at 5,342.10 with 49 components posting rise.
Sensex Movers
ICICI Bank contributed rise of 58.79 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (50.74 points), Infosys (34.8 points), Larsen & Toubro (34.17 points) and Tata Motors (23.33 points).
However, Wipro contributed fall of 0.18 points in the Sensex. It was followed by NTPC (0.87 points), Hero Motocorp (0.96 points), ACC (1.24 points) and Tata Power Company (1.35 points).
All shares in the Sensex settled with gains. Biggest gainers were Tata Steel (5.72%), ICICI Bank (4.68%), Tata Motors (4.40%), Larsen & Toubro (3.86%), Hindalco Industries (3.39%), and Reliance Industries (3.08%).
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps underperformed their larger counterparts gaining 1.14% and 0.76% respectively.The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were CORE Education and Technologies (2.48%), Amara Raja Batteries (1.53%), Anant Raj Industries (1.15%), ABG Shipyard (0.52%) and Alstom India (0.28%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were ABG Infralogistics (8.28%), Trident (2.92%), Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.18%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.11%) and Aarti Industries (0.74%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Capital Goods index was at 9,536.70, up by 281.70 points or by 3.04%. The major gainers were Crompton Greaves (3.72%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (1.74%), A B B (1.69%), BEML (0.79%) and Alstom India (0.28%).
The Realty index was at 1,547.02, up by 40.63 points or by 2.70%. The major gainers were DLF (5.26%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (3.92%), D B Realty (3.59%), Indiabulls Real Estate (1.6%) and Anant Raj Industries (1.15%).
The Metal index was at 9,742.54, up by 252.32 points or by 2.66%. The major gainers were Hindalco Industries (3.39%), Hindustan Zinc (2.35%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.42%), Coal India (0.85%) and Bhushan Steel (0.05%).
The Bankex index was at 11,611.55, up by 259.67 points or by 2.29%. The major gainers were Canara Bank(3.32%), Bank Of Baroda (2.87%), Bank Of India (1.5%), Federal Bank (0.75%) and HDFC Bank (0.71%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 1,812 advances against 1,119 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
United Spirits topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 1,147.52 million. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (Rs. 774.95 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 684.38 million) and Tata Steel (Rs. 544.17 million).
The volume chart was led by Cals Refineries with trades of over 11.29 million shares. It was followed by Transgene Biotek (7.11 million), Jain Irrigation Systems (3.12 million) and Kingfisher Airlines (2.98 million).
