Sensex flat with negative bias at open

Indian markets continued to gain in early trade for the fourth day on Friday. The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 7.37 points or 0.04% at 17,546.04, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 2.60 points or 0.05%, at 5,324.70.
At 09.20 a.m., the Sensex was trading down 37.21 points or 0.21% at 17,501.46 with 22 components falling. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 14.85 points or 0.28% at 5,312.45 with 37 components falling.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed fall of 10.78
points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (8.96
points), I C I C I Bank (5.74 points), Oil & Natural Gas
Corporation (4.66 points) and Tata Consultancy Services (4.55
points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed rise of 4.75 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Hindustan Unilever (3.05 points), Tata Motors (2.95 points), Grasim Industries (1.53 points) and ACC (0.5 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (0.67%), Tata Motors (0.54%), Hindustan Unilever (0.52%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.41%), Cipla (0.11%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (0.03%).
On the other hand, Jindal Steel & Power (2.44%), Wipro (1.06%), Sterlite Industries (India) (0.96%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.93%), Infosys Technologies (0.74%), and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.65%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.09% and 0.47% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Anant Raj Industries (1.49%), Alok Industries (1.1%), Amtek Auto (1.05%), Alstom Projects India (0.5%) and Andhra Bank (0.17%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Aanjaneya Lifecare (1.95%), Anil (1.24%), Aegis Logistics (0.88%), Advanta India (0.33%) and Alembic (0.3%).
Sectors in Limelight
The IT index was at 5,670.85, down by 29.2 points or by 0.51%. The major losers were Mphasis (1.33%), Infosys (0.74%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.51%), Hexaware Technologies (0.28%) and Tech Mahindra (0.13%).
The TECk index was at 3,346.23, down by 16.15 points or by 0.48%. The major losers were Mphasis (1.33%), Idea Cellular (0.64%), Bharti Airtel (0.34%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.08%) and Dish TV India (0.07%).
The Metal index was at 11,081.95, down by 40.64 points or by 0.37%. The major losers were Jindal Steel & Power (2.44%), NMDC (1.06%), JSW Steel (0.87%), Hindalco Industries (0.52%) and Bhushan Steel (0.19%).
On the other hand, the IPO index was at 1,529.84, up by 6.75 points or by 0.44%. The major gainers were Electrosteel Steels (6.84%), Bajaj Corp (0.97%), Coal India (0.67%), Commercial Engineers and Body Builders Company (0.58%) and Eros International Media (0.49%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 577 advances against 371 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Intellivate Capital Ventures -PPS topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 36.13 million), Tata Motors (Rs. 21.85 million) and I C I C I Bank (Rs. 14.64 million).
The volume chart was led by Prraneta Industries with trades of over 2.38 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (0.47 million), Kingfisher Airlines (0.33 million) and Lanco Infratech (0.25 million).
