Sensex gains 44 points in early trade

Indian markets bounced back in early trade on Friday snapping earlier losses. At 09.20 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 43.67 points or 0.23% at 18,905.21 with 17 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 16.55 points or 0.29% at 5,709.60 with 26 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 15.14 points or 0.08% at 18,876.68, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a rise of 9.40 points or 0.17%, at 5,702.45.
Sensex Movers
I C I C I Bank contributed rise of
23.28 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Larsen & Toubro
(16.88 points), I T C (15.73 points), Infosys (8.94 points) and
Wipro (5.95 points).
However, H D F C Bank contributed fall of 16.12 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (10.69 points), Tata Consultancy Services (6.33 points), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (5.46 points) and NTPC (4.67 points).
Major gainers in the 30-share index were Wipro (2.02%), Jindal Steel & Power (1.91%), Larsen & Toubro (1.85%), Maruti Suzuki India (1.65%), I C I C I Bank (1.61%), and Coal India (0.87%).
On the other hand, NTPC (1.63%), Tata Steel (1.44%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.41%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.34%), G A I L (India) (1.16%), and Cipla (1.14%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Sectors in Limelight
The Consumer Durables index was at 7,265.79, up by 93.68 points or by 1.31%. The major gainers were Titan Industries (2.07%), Rajesh Exports (2.06%), V I P Industries (1.34%), Videocon Industries (0.75%) and Gitanjali Gems (0.43%).
The Capital Goods index was at 9,257.65, up by 73.15 points or by 0.80%. The major gainers were Alstom T&D India (7.82%), Larsen & Toubro (1.85%), Crompton Greaves (1.27%), A B B (0.55%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.32%).
The FMCG index was at 5,709.28, up by 40.18 points or by 0.71%. The major gainers were Colgate-Palmolive (India) (1.05%), I T C (0.85%), Godrej Consumer Products (0.39%), Hindustan Unilever (0.14%) and Dabur India (0.04%).
On the other hand, the HC index was at 7,749.41, down by 60.92 points or by 0.78%. The major losers were Apollo Hospitals Enterprise (2.43%), Cipla (1.14%), Dr Reddy'S Laboratories (0.98%), Aurobindo Pharma (0.34%) and Biocon (0.16%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 438 advances against 305 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Intellivate Capital Ventures -PPS topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 0.00 million. It was followed by United Spirits (Rs. 115.46 million), Titan Industries (Rs. 84.78 million) and Suzlon Energy (Rs. 68.81 million).
The volume chart was led by Suzlon Energy with trades of over 3.59 million shares. It was followed by Unitech (0.35 million), Titan Industries (0.32 million) and I F C I (0.28 million).
