Sensex, Nifty flat; Bharti Airtel surges over 4%

Indian markets are trading slightly higher in the post noon trade as investors are cautious ahead of Budget. Realty stocks gained the most followed by technology and oil & gas.
At 2.03 pm, the Sensex was trading up 13.86 points or 0.07% at 19,339.22 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 2.95 points or 0.05% at 5,855.20 with 29 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 16.54 points or 0.09% at 19,341.90, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 14.30 points or 0.24%, at 5,837.95.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 21.1 points
in the Sensex. It was followed by Bharti Airtel (20.49 points),
Reliance Industries (19.29 points), I C I C I Bank (18.39 points)
and Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (8.64 points).
However, I T C contributed fall of 34.35 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (29.24 points), Hindustan Unilever (14.19 points), Tata Motors (11.87 points) and H D F C Bank (5.62 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (4.17%), Wipro (2.74%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.68%), Bajaj Auto (1.44%), Infosys (1.33%), and I C I C I Bank (1.21%).
On the other hand, Hindustan Unilever (2.44%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.01%), I T C (1.77%), Tata Motors (1.76%), Coal India (1.40%), and Maruti Suzuki India (1.34%) were the biggest losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.20% and 0.25% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Amtek Auto (1.54%), Allahabad Bank (1.51%), Amtek India (1.02%), Anant Raj (0.98%) and A I A Engineering (0.93%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Styrolution ABS (India) (1.32%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.1%), Reliance MediaWorks (0.97%), Trident (0.7%) and Aarti Industries (0.46%).
Sectors in Limelight
The Realty index was at 2,122.47, up by 37.49 points or by 1.80%. The major gainers were D L F (3.52%), Indiabulls Real Estate (1.61%), Anant Raj (0.98%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.88%) and Oberoi Realty (0.39%).
The TECk index was at 3,831.92, up by 58.93 points or by 1.56%. The major gainers were Idea Cellular (4.5%), Bharti Airtel (4.17%), G T L (1.84%), Mphasis (1.47%) and Reliance MediaWorks (0.97%).
The IT index was at 6,625.48, up by 75.04 points or by 1.15%. The major gainers were Mphasis (1.47%), Infosys (1.33%), Hexaware Technologies (1.13%), Tech Mahindra (0.65%) and H C L Technologies (0.4%).
On the other hand, the FMCG index was at 5,672.82, down by 84.54 points or by 1.47%. The major losers were United Breweries (4.92%), Hindustan Unilever (2.44%), Godrej Consumer Products (2.44%), I T C (1.77%) and Colgate-Palmolive (India) (1.45%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 1,285 advances against 1,371 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
State Bank Of India topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 448.78 million. It was followed by Jet Airways (India) (Rs. 342.69 million), D L F (Rs. 301.22 million) and Infosys (Rs. 295.02 million).
The volume chart was led by Ashok Leyland with trades of over 9.17 million shares. It was followed by Kingfisher Airlines (3.25 million), Suzlon Energy (2.58 million) and Cals Refineries (2.51 million).
