Sensex trades marginally higher; IT, Realty rise

Indian markets are trading flat with positive bias on Friday. At 10.07 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 7.74 points or 0.04% at 19,333.10 with 13 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading lower by 1.75 points or 0.03% at 5,850.50 with 28 components falling.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 16.54 points or 0.09% at 19,341.90, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 14.30 points or 0.24%, at 5,837.95.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 20.44
points in the Sensex. It was followed by Reliance Industries (14.26
points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (13.39 points), I C I C
I Bank (10.95 points) and Bharti Airtel (9.29 points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 35.49 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Tata Motors (14.35 points), I T C (8.17 points), Hindustan Unilever (6.16 points) and Mahindra & Mahindra (4.37 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Bharti Airtel (1.89%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.67%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (1.66%), Wipro (1.37%), Infosys (1.29%), and Tata Consultancy Services (0.86%).
On the other hand, Housing Development Finance Corporation (2.43%), Tata Motors (2.13%), Hindustan Unilever (1.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.90%), Hindalco Industries (0.88%), and Maruti Suzuki India (0.83%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.09% and 0.12% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Hexaware Technologies (1.3%), Amtek Auto (1.12%), Amtek India (0.9%), Delta Corp (0.67%) and A B G Shipyard (0.54%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Wagend Infra Venture (4.95%), Adhunik Metaliks (1.5%), A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.26%), Advanta India (0.53%) and Styrolution ABS (India) (0.18%).
Sectors in Limelight
The IT index was at 6,623.49, up by 73.05 points or by 1.12%. The major gainers were Mphasis (2.02%), Hexaware Technologies (1.3%), Infosys (1.29%), H C L Technologies (1.01%) and Oracle Financial Services Software (0.25%).
The TECk index was at 3,810.63, up by 37.64 points or by 1.00%. The major gainers were G T L (2.3%), Mphasis (2.02%), Bharti Airtel (1.89%), Idea Cellular (1.06%) and Oracle Financial Services Software (0.25%).
The Realty index was at 2,105.43, up by 20.45 points or by 0.98%. The major gainers were D L F (1.4%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.8%), Godrej Properties (0.69%), Oberoi Realty (0.67%) and Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.59%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 10,648.33, down by 112.22 points or by 1.04%. The major losers were Mahindra & Mahindra (0.9%), Maruti Suzuki India (0.83%), Bharat Forge (0.81%), Bajaj Auto (0.32%) and Hero Motocorp (0.27%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was negative with 903 advances against 862 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Jet Airways (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 135.32 million. It was followed by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (Rs. 104.39 million), Infosys (Rs. 96.77 million) and State Bank Of India (Rs. 95.64 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 1.69 million shares. It was followed by Spicejet (1.14 million), Suzlon Energy (0.94 million) and I F C I (0.81 million).
