Sensex flat with positive bias at open

Indian markets are trading flat with positive bias in early trade on Friday snapping earlier losses. At 9.19 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 3.35 points or 0.02% at 19,328.71 with 16 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 0.75 points or 0.01% at 5,853.00 with 30 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 16.54 points or 0.09% at 19,341.90, while the broad based NSE Nifty started with a fall of 14.30 points or 0.24%, at 5,837.95.
Sensex Movers
Reliance Industries contributed rise of
8.31 points in the Sensex. It was followed by I C I C I Bank (8.07
points), Bharti Airtel (5.64 points), Oil & Natural Gas
Corporation (5.38 points) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4.45
points).
However, Housing Development Finance Corporation contributed fall of 14.93 points in the Sensex. It was followed by H D F C Bank (5.73 points), Tata Motors (4.74 points), Hindustan Unilever (3.8 points) and Maruti Suzuki India (3.48 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.17%), Bharti Airtel (1.15%), Wipro (1.02%), Tata Power Company (0.93%), Cipla (0.90%), and G A I L (India) (0.75%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (1.40%), Housing Development Finance Corporation (1.02%), Tata Motors (0.71%), Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.70%), Hindustan Unilever (0.65%), and Hindalco Industries (0.65%) were the major losers in the Sensex.
Mid & Small-cap Space
The BSE Mid and small caps outperformed their larger counterparts gaining 0.83% and 0.75% respectively. The major gainers in the BSE Midcap were Amtek Auto (2.1%), A B G Shipyard (1.73%), Alstom India (1.68%), Amtek India (0.96%) and Allahabad Bank (0.14%).The major gainers in the BSE Smallcap were Advanta India (20%), Styrolution ABS (India) (9.41%), Hubtown (6.69%), Wagend Infra Venture (4.8%) and A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services (1.26%).
Sectors in Limelight
The HC index was at 8,069.51, up by 111.87 points or by 1.41%. The major gainers were Glaxo SmithKline Pharmaceuticals (1.41%), Cipla (0.9%), Glenmark Pharmaceutical (0.86%), Biocon (0.55%) and Aurobindo Pharma (0.53%).
The Realty index was at 2,101.42, up by 16.44 points or by 0.79%. The major gainers were D L F (1.41%), Indiabulls Real Estate (0.95%), Anant Raj (0.83%), Housing Development and Infrastructure (0.66%) and Sobha Developers (0.37%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 7,197.54, up by 50.05 points or by 0.70%. The major gainers were Bajaj Electricals (0.96%), Gitanjali Gems (0.77%), Titan Industries (0.7%), Rajesh Exports (0.46%) and Blue Star (0.03%).
On the other hand, the Auto index was at 10,714.85, down by 45.7 points or by 0.42%. The major losers were Maruti Suzuki India (1.4%), Tata Motors (0.71%), Bharat Forge (0.63%), Mahindra & Mahindra (0.43%) and Bajaj Auto (0.14%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 528 advances against 267 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Jet Airways (India) topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 39.29 million. It was followed by D L F (Rs. 17.56 million), State Bank Of India (Rs. 15.28 million) and Karnataka Bank , The (Rs. 14.41 million).
The volume chart was led by Kingfisher Airlines with trades of over 0.48 million shares. It was followed by Zee Learn (0.22 million), Suzlon Energy (0.19 million) and Spicejet (0.16 million).
