Sensex gains in early trade

Indian equities continued to gain in early trade for the third day on Thursday. At 09.17 a.m., the Sensex was trading up 13.51 points or 0.07% at 19,621.59 with 14 components gaining. Meanwhile, the Nifty was trading higher by 1.45 points or 0.02% at 5,934.40 with 23 components gaining.
The 30-share benchmark index, BSE Sensex opened flat with a rise of 18.73 points or 0.10% at 19,626.81, while the broad based NSE Nifty began flat with a gain of 0.25 points or 0.00%, at 5,933.20.
Sensex Movers
Infosys contributed rise of 10.64 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Housing Development Finance Corporation (8.95 points), Tata Consultancy Services (6.55 points), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (5.89 points) and Reliance Industries (5.29 points).
However, State Bank Of India contributed fall of 6.8 points in the Sensex. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki India (6.38 points), Tata Motors (4.95 points), Wipro (4.76 points) and Tata Steel (4.15 points).
Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Coal India (1.08%), NTPC (0.81%), Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (0.74%), Tata Consultancy Services (0.66%), Infosys (0.66%), and Housing Development Finance Corporation (0.61%).
On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki India (2.34%), Wipro (1.59%), Tata Steel (1.33%), State Bank Of India (0.93%), Tata Power Company (0.85%), and Tata Motors (0.77%) were the major losers in the Sensex.

The Oil & Gas index was at 9,190.00, up by 41.71 points or by 0.46%. The major gainers were Indian Oil Corporation (2.08%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (1.54%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (0.84%), Oil India (0.62%) and Cairn India (0.24%).
The PSU index was at 7,375.58, up by 31.35 points or by 0.43%. The major gainers were Bharat Petroleum Corporation (1.54%), Canara Bank (0.42%), Central Bank Of India (0.39%), Allahabad Bank (0.07%) and Bharat Heavy Electricals (0.07%).
The Consumer Durables index was at 7,293.35, down by 40.86 points or by 0.56%. The major losers were Bajaj Electricals (2.43%), Videocon Industries (1.07%), Titan Industries (0.8%) and T T K Prestige (0.01%).The Auto index was at 10,914.49, down by 38.26 points or by 0.35%. The major losers were Maruti Suzuki India (2.34%), Tata Motors (0.77%) and Bharat Forge (0.2%).
Market Breadth
Market breadth was positive with 303 advances against 235 declines.
Value and Volume Toppers
Tata Steel topped the value chart on the BSE with a turnover of Rs. 28.23 million. It was followed by State Bank Of India (Rs. 23.84 million), United Spirits (Rs. 16.37 million) and Reliance Capital (Rs. 12.27 million).
The volume chart was led by Unitech with trades of over 0.30 million shares. It was followed by Cals Refineries (0.22 million), Kingfisher Airlines (0.15 million) and Suzlon Energy (0.14 million).
